Remove blank rows and columns

Delete every completely empty row and column in one step, and keep everything else exactly as it was.

How it works

Your file is opened in an isolated sandbox with no internet access, processed, and the sandbox is destroyed. Nothing is stored, and no account is needed.

It uses the same reader as the full product, which is built for the spreadsheets people actually have: headers that are not on row 1, merged cells, totals rows pasted at the bottom, dates in two formats, and numbers stored as text. Everything it changes is listed back to you.

Common questions

Will it delete a row that is only partly empty?

No. A row is removed only if every cell in it is empty or contains nothing but spaces. A row with a single value is kept.

Does it work on every sheet?

Yes. Each sheet is cleaned separately, and the result lists how many blank rows and columns came out of each one.

Does it move my header row or change values?

No. Nothing is re-ordered, renamed or converted — only fully empty rows and columns disappear.

Is this the same as Go To Special → Blanks in Excel?

Safer. Go To Special selects every blank cell, and deleting those rows also removes rows that were only partly empty. This removes only rows and columns that are completely empty.
