Clean a messy spreadsheet
Fix merged cells, headers buried in row 5, and numbers stored as text.
How it works
Your file is opened in an isolated sandbox with no internet access, processed, and the sandbox is destroyed. Nothing is stored, and no account is needed.
It uses the same reader as the full product, which is built for the spreadsheets people actually have: headers that are not on row 1, merged cells, totals rows pasted at the bottom, dates in two formats, and numbers stored as text. Everything it changes is listed back to you.
Common questions
What counts as cleaning?
Finding the real header row, unmerging cells and filling the value down, removing totals rows pasted at the bottom, converting numbers stored as text, and parsing dates written in more than one format in the same column.
Will it change my numbers?
It converts them to real numbers, which means a column stored as text becomes something you can sum. Every change it makes is listed back to you, so you can check any of them against the original.
My thousands separator is a full stop. Does that break it?
No. The convention is worked out per column rather than assumed, so 13.500 in a column that uses full stops for thousands is read as 13500, not 13.5 — and the page tells you which convention it decided on.
Does it keep the original file?
The original is untouched; you get a cleaned copy. Nothing is stored on our side either way.
