Merge Excel files
Combine several spreadsheets into one, even when the columns do not match.
How it works
Your file is opened in an isolated sandbox with no internet access, processed, and the sandbox is destroyed. Nothing is stored, and no account is needed.
It uses the same reader as the full product, which is built for the spreadsheets people actually have: headers that are not on row 1, merged cells, totals rows pasted at the bottom, dates in two formats, and numbers stored as text. Everything it changes is listed back to you.
Common questions
Can it merge files whose columns are in a different order?
Yes. Columns are matched by name, not by position, so a file with Date, Amount, Customer merges correctly with one that has Customer, Date, Amount. A column that exists in only some files is kept, and left empty for the rows that never had it.
What happens to the header rows of the second and third file?
They are recognised as headers and dropped, rather than becoming data rows in the middle of the result. The reader finds the real header row even when it is not row 1.
Is there a limit on how many files?
Ten at a time here, with no signup. The full product handles more at once and remembers them between questions.
Does it work with CSV as well as Excel?
Yes, and you can mix them — CSV and xlsx files merge into one spreadsheet together.
