Make a chart from a CSV or Excel file
Upload a file and get a clean chart back: a trend over time, a ranking by category, or a distribution.
How it works
Your file is opened in an isolated sandbox with no internet access, processed, and the sandbox is destroyed. Nothing is stored, and no account is needed.
It uses the same reader as the full product, which is built for the spreadsheets people actually have: headers that are not on row 1, merged cells, totals rows pasted at the bottom, dates in two formats, and numbers stored as text. Everything it changes is listed back to you.
Common questions
How does it choose the chart?
From the shape of the data. A date column becomes a line chart totalled by day or month; a category column becomes a bar chart of the largest groups; a column of numbers on its own becomes a histogram.
Which number does it chart?
The column that looks like a measure — revenue, sales, amount, total, cost, quantity — or the first numeric column otherwise. Columns of IDs and ZIP codes are ignored.
What if there are hundreds of categories?
The 14 largest are shown and the rest are combined into Other, so the chart stays readable.
Can I get an editable chart instead of an image?
Use Excel to PowerPoint for editable slides, or ask a question in DataMimi to get an interactive chart you can export.
