Convert Excel to CSV
A clean UTF-8 CSV from a workbook: header on row 1, no title rows, no totals.
How it works
Your file is opened in an isolated sandbox with no internet access, processed, and the sandbox is destroyed. Nothing is stored, and no account is needed.
It uses the same reader as the full product, which is built for the spreadsheets people actually have: headers that are not on row 1, merged cells, totals rows pasted at the bottom, dates in two formats, and numbers stored as text. Everything it changes is listed back to you.
Common questions
How do I convert an Excel file to CSV?
Upload the workbook and download the CSV. It is UTF-8 with a byte order mark, which is what makes Excel and most importers read accented characters correctly.
What happens to a workbook with several sheets?
A CSV holds one table, so the largest table in the workbook is written and the result names the sheet it came from.
Are merged cells and title rows kept?
No. Title rows above the header are dropped, merged cells are filled, and total rows are removed, so the CSV is a clean table an import will accept.
How are dates written?
As YYYY-MM-DD, which every system reads the same way, rather than in a local format that another country's software may read as a different day.
