Convert text to dates in Excel
Text dates and mixed formats turned into real dates you can sort and group.
How it works
Your file is opened in an isolated sandbox with no internet access, processed, and the sandbox is destroyed. Nothing is stored, and no account is needed.
It uses the same reader as the full product, which is built for the spreadsheets people actually have: headers that are not on row 1, merged cells, totals rows pasted at the bottom, dates in two formats, and numbers stored as text. Everything it changes is listed back to you.
Common questions
How do I convert text to dates in Excel?
Upload the file. Every column that holds dates — as text, in mixed formats, with month names or dots — is converted to real dates, and the result lists the columns it changed.
What about 03/04/2026 — March or April?
The whole column is read both ways and the reading that fits every value is used. When a column mixes both, the result says which order was chosen so you can check it.
Why won't my dates sort or group by month?
They are stored as text, so Excel sorts them alphabetically. Converted to real dates, they sort in order and PivotTables can group them by month.
Are blank cells a problem?
No. Blank cells stay blank and are not reported as unreadable dates.
