Analyze Pinterest Ads Data Without Pivot Table Formulas
When you analyze Pinterest Ads data, you're working with campaign performance, pin engagement, and conversion tracking across dozens of columns. Pinterest Ads Manager exports contain all of it, but most analysts spend hours pivoting by campaign objective, filtering out paused ads, and calculating cost per acquisition manually.
You can compare campaign performance, spot underperforming pins, and calculate acquisition cost in the time it used to take to filter out paused ads.

Common questions
How do I filter out paused Pinterest campaigns from the export?
The Campaign status column shows 'ACTIVE', 'PAUSED', or 'ARCHIVED'. Filter to 'ACTIVE' only, but remember that paused ad groups within active campaigns still appear. Check Delivery status as well to exclude ads not currently running.
What is the difference between Clicks and Outbound clicks in Pinterest Ads data?
Clicks counts any click on the pin, including closeups and saves. Outbound clicks counts only clicks that send someone to your website. Use Outbound clicks to measure traffic and calculate true cost per visit.
How do I calculate cost per acquisition from Pinterest Ads exports?
Divide the Spend column by Total conversions for each row. If you track multiple conversion types, sum the conversion columns you consider valuable, then divide Spend by that sum. CPA varies widely by campaign objective.
Why do some ad groups show impressions but zero spend?
Pinterest charges per engagement, not per impression. If an ad group delivered impressions but no one clicked, saved, or engaged, Spend stays zero. This often means the pin creative or targeting needs adjustment.
Can I see which Pinterest pins drive the most revenue?
The export shows conversions per Pin ID but not revenue unless you send purchase values back to Pinterest via the conversion tag. Match Pin ID to your order data by timestamp and referrer, or use a BI tool that joins Pinterest data with your transaction records.
