Shopify Sales Dashboard From Your Orders Export

A Shopify sales dashboard from your orders export shows revenue, orders, average order value, the monthly trend and your top products and states in one view. Shopify's own Analytics shows some of this; the export lets you cut it any way you like and keep it month after month.

Export your orders from Shopify, upload the CSV, and get the dashboard in one step. Add next month's export and the month is updated, not counted twice.

Export the orders from Shopify

In Shopify admin go to Orders, filter to the date range you want, then Export → Export orders → CSV for Excel, Numbers, or other spreadsheet programs. Choose all orders matching your search. The file arrives by email for large exports.

What the dashboard shows

Revenue from the Total column with the change against the previous period, number of orders from Name, average order value per order, customers from Email, the month-by-month trend from Created at, and the top products (Lineitem name), vendors and shipping states. Refunds are visible from Financial Status and Refunded Amount.

One quirk of the Shopify export

An order with several products has one row per line item, and the order-level columns (Total, Shipping, Taxes) are filled on the first row only. Summing Total is therefore right; averaging it over rows, or summing Lineitem price as revenue, is not.

Keeping it current

Each month export the new orders and add the file to the dashboard with Update data. A month that appears in both files is taken from the newer one, so overlapping exports never double a month.

Upload a spreadsheet, get the dashboard

Excel, CSV or Google Sheets. DataMimi recognises what the data is and builds:

  • Headline figures with the change against the previous period
  • The trend over time, and breakdowns by category, product and region
  • Written findings, checked against the figures
  • Filters: pick a period, press a bar to narrow everything to that group
  • Next month's file added without counting a month twice
  • Or connect Google Sheets and refresh on a schedule

Free account, no card. The free plan includes credits to build your first dashboards.

What usually goes wrong with it

  • Order totals only on the first line

Multi-item orders repeat on several rows with Total filled once, so row-based averages understate order value.

DataMimi It counts orders by Name and averages order value per order, not per line.

  • Refunds mixed into sales

Refunded orders stay in the export with a Financial Status of refunded or partially_refunded, which inflates revenue if nobody filters them.

DataMimi It shows refunds from Financial Status and Refunded Amount so they can be seen and filtered.

  • Timezone in the date

Created at carries an offset such as -0700, which spreadsheet date parsing often rejects, so the monthly trend breaks.

DataMimi It reads Created at with its timezone offset as a date and groups it by month.

  • Exports that overlap

Exporting by month with slightly different ranges puts the same orders in two files and doubles them when combined.

DataMimi A month in a newer export replaces the same month in the older one instead of being added again.

Common questions

How do I get a Shopify sales report by product?

Export your orders as CSV and group Lineitem name by the line amount, or upload the export to DataMimi and it ranks products by revenue for you.

How do I export a sales report from Shopify?

Orders → Export → CSV gives every order and line item. Analytics → Reports lets you export a single report such as Sales over time as CSV.

Is there a Shopify sales dashboard template?

Templates need your data reshaped to their columns. Uploading the orders export builds the dashboard from Shopify's own columns, with nothing to reshape.

Does it need access to my Shopify store?

No. It reads the CSV you export; nothing connects to your store.

How do I update the dashboard next month?

Export the new orders and add the file with Update data. Overlapping months are replaced, not doubled.

Turn your file into a dashboard

Upload the spreadsheet and DataMimi lays it out — figures, trend, breakdowns and findings — in one step.
