Shopify Monthly Sales Summary and Top Products by Quantity

For Shopify store owners who want a clear month-by-month view of sales without building a spreadsheet. Upload your Shopify orders export CSV, or several monthly exports, and choose how many top products to list.

You get a monthly table of orders, subtotal, discounts, shipping, taxes, refunds and net sales with a Total row, a top products list ranked by units sold, and a bar chart of net sales by month.

Your file stays private to you. One free try without an account; then 2 credits a run.

Keep it, change it by chat, run it every month.

A real result, on the sample file

The file has 2343 line rows and 2343 unique orders. The money fields appeared only on one line row per order (blank or zero on the others); to avoid double counting, I built one row per order (first non-null value of each money field and the first Created at), then summed by the order's month (YYYY-MM). Net Sales = Total minus Refunded Amount; missing numbers were treated as 0. The top 10 products sum Lineitem quantity over line rows and count distinct orders containing each product.

How to use it

  1. 1In Shopify admin, go to Orders, choose the date range you want, and export all orders as CSV (the plain CSV file, not the summary).
  2. 2Check that the file has columns such as Name, Created at, Subtotal, Total, Refunded Amount, Lineitem name and Lineitem quantity. You can add several monthly exports and they will be combined.
  3. 3Set how many top products you want listed. The default is 10.
  4. 4Read the Monthly summary table: Net Sales is Total minus Refunded Amount, and the last row adds up all months. The chart shows net sales by month, and the products table ranks items by units sold.

Common questions

Which Shopify file do I need to upload?

Use the plain orders CSV from Shopify admin. Go to Orders, pick your date range, and export all orders as CSV, not the summary file. You can upload several monthly exports, and they will be combined into one report.

Which columns does the file need, and what if one is named differently?

The tool needs Name, Created at, Subtotal, Discount Amount, Shipping, Taxes, Total, Refunded Amount, Lineitem name and Lineitem quantity. These are the standard Shopify export headers. If you renamed or removed a column, change the header back to the Shopify name before uploading so the numbers land in the right place.

How is net sales calculated?

Net Sales is Total minus Refunded Amount for each month. The last row of the Monthly summary table adds up all months. The top products table ranks items by units sold and shows how many orders included each product.

Is my data private, and what does it cost?

Your orders file is used only to build your report. Each run costs 2 credits, no matter how many monthly exports you combine in that run.
