See Gross, Fees, Refunds and Net for Every Stripe Payout
For businesses paid through Stripe that want to see what each payout really held. Upload the itemized balance transactions CSV from Stripe Reports. You can add several monthly exports, and they will be combined.
You get one row per payout with gross, fees, refunds, net and fee % of gross. You also get a 'Not yet paid out' row, a TOTAL row and a bar chart of net per payout.

A real result, on the sample file
Excluded 0 payout/transfer rows, then grouped the remaining transactions by automatic_payout_id (blank IDs labelled 'Not yet paid out', listed last; payouts in date order). Gross is the gross of charge rows, refunds is the gross of refund rows, so gross + refunds − fee = net; fee % is fee ÷ gross, and the TOTAL row's fee % is computed from the totals.

How to use it
- 1In the Stripe Dashboard, go to Reports → Balance and export the balance transactions (itemized) as CSV. Make sure the automatic_payout_id and reporting_category columns are included.
- 2Check that the export covers the full period you care about. A payout that started before your date range will show only part of its transactions.
- 3To cover several months, add each monthly export. They will be combined into one summary.
- 4Read the table one row per payout, in date order. Gross minus fees plus refunds equals net, and refunds show as negative numbers. 'Fee % of gross' tells you what share Stripe kept.
- 5The 'Not yet paid out' row, listed last, shows transactions Stripe has not paid out yet. The TOTAL row sums everything.
Common questions
Which Stripe file do I upload?
In the Stripe Dashboard, go to Reports → Balance and export the itemized balance transactions as a CSV. It needs the balance_transaction_id, created_utc, currency, gross, fee, net, reporting_category and automatic_payout_id columns. Add each monthly export if you want to cover several months.
What if a column in my export has a different name or is missing?
Stripe lets you choose columns when you export, so automatic_payout_id and reporting_category are sometimes left out. Re-export with those columns turned on. If a column has a slightly different name, rename the header to match the names listed above before uploading.
Why does a payout look smaller than what hit my bank?
If a payout started before the date range of your export, only part of its transactions are included. Export a wider period to get the full payout. Transactions Stripe has not paid out yet appear in the 'Not yet paid out' row instead.
Is my data kept private, and what does it cost?
